Festival of the Seadragon
Sunday 5th February 2006
Flinders, Mornington Peninsula

Festival Hub is at the Clean Oceans Office, 39 Cook St Flinders

Promoting the conservation of the Weedy Seadragon and celebrating the
spectacular creature from the depths of our local oceans.

Funded by Coastcare and CoastAction, supported by the Clean Ocean Foundation, Parks Victoria and Bay Play Adventure Tours

All activities in the Festival of the Seadragon are free.

Festival Program:

Snorkelling at Flinders Pier with Bay Play Adventure Tours
Two sessions: 10.30am, 1.30pm
Places are limited, bookings essential on 0437 457 061

The Dragons Lair
SeaDragon puppetmaking: 10-12pm, and 1-3pm
Public Reserve opposite Clean Oceans Office
All ages.

Storytelling with local author Maree Coote, a reading of her beautiful childrens book "The Secret of Driftus and Sprout" published by Gingerbread Books
At the Dragons Lair (opposite Clean Oceans) at 11.30pm
Suitable for 4-7 years olds

Sketching and Computer Illustration Workshop with Maree Coote, writer and illustrator.
Suitable for all children and teenagers, with colouring ins for littlies.
On the decking of the Clean Oceans Office 1.30-2.30pm

Rockpool Ramble with Harry Breidahl
Flinders Pier 11-12.30pm

  • Information Displays and stalls at the Clean Oceans Office
  • Marine Parks Display by Parks Victoria and Coastcare Display
  • Book Stall by Gingerbread Books
    All Day.

Treasures of the Seadragon
Flinders Town Hall, Cook Street 7-10:30pm
An evening of fantastic underwater footage and images featuring presentations by:

  • Dr. Keith Martin-Smith of Project Seahorse from the University of Tasmainia.
  • John Ariens and Don Love, East Gippsland Underwater Naturalists
  • Harry Breidahl, Nautilus Education
  • Footage by Pang Quong and live instrumental music by Guns of Saint Sebastian
