Exploring our coast (Thursday 11th)

Year 5&6 Byron Bay Public School students are exploring the biodiversity and mapping the impacts on their coastal zone. The workshop is run by Dorroughby Environmental Education Centre staff with the help of Southern Cross University Student Teachers, undertaking a unit in Environmental Education. Later back at school the students will have an opportunity to learn and dicuss their marine scene with a Cape Byron Marine Park Officer and local MESA educator.

Richmond river estuary kayak adventure (Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th)

Join a guided kayak tour to get to know our local fish nursery, the migratory bird visitors, seagrass meadows and mangrove forests. Tuesday explore Mobbs Bay with a bird specialist identifying all the visiting waders on the sandbar. Wednesday explore North Creek, with the Ballina council environmental scientist. No experience needed and all equipment provided by BAK, Ballina Adventure Kayaking. Seaweek special cost only $30. Bookings please 6685 3722.
