To learn more about Open Space Technology
Lisa Heft, Opening Space

You do not have to be a professional facilitator to convene an Open Space event. No certification is needed and you do not need to take anyone’s special class to be able to lead your own Open Space. This is done intentionally to insure that the method and the practice are available to everyone. Feel free to learn in any of the following ways:

Take a workshop
Workshops are offered by Opening Space ( Lisa Heft) lisaheft@openingspace.net or www.openingspace.net

Harrison Owen and Colleagues (Ms. Heft is also a Harrison Owen Colleague) www.openspaceworld.com

…and other facilitators around the world.

Browse
Look up “Open Space Technology” on your web browser (for example: www.google.com ) and visit various web sites around the world.

Join the electronic conversation
“OSLIST” is a place where the global Open Space community of over 300 facilitators and enthusiasts share materials, ideas, design, experiences, even clients. Sit in as an active listener and questioner or just as a quiet learner.

People on this electronic discussion list can share ideas and materials with you from their work in over 100 countries and in many languages, cultures and settings. Some have compared this to ‘going to an Open Space university’ -- join practitioners from around the world to learn and share in this rich and supportive learning community at:

Read
Harrison Owen ’s book “Open Space Technology: A User’s Guide” can teach you about the method and some of the theory behind it.

This book can be ordered through your local bookseller or any on-line bookseller such as Amazon.com. You can also order it and Harrison’s other books through the Open Space Institute of the United States for a slight discount off the regular retail price -- and in doing so you will help the OSI(US)

  • help people around the world without financial means to access learning and information regarding Open Space
  • support the global Open Space learning community and
  • help to gather and report Open Space stories and supporting research

You can contact them at:

Another great reading source is the Harrison Owen and Colleagues site, where you’ll find both Papers and other recommended literature in related fields: www.openspaceworld.com/literature.htm

There are also papers for further learning and to help you organize your own Open Space events at: www.openingspace.net

Share the knowledge
There is an article on Open Space available on-line in English, Swedish, Portuguese, French, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Danish, Dutch, Haitian Creole, Russian, Hebrew, Polish, Chinese, Arabic and Estonian.

All of these can be found at the website for the Open Space Institute of the USA at: www.openspaceworld.org/

Share it with your friends. Help us translate this and other articles into more languages.

Contact any Open Space facilitator
Any of us will be happy to share our learning and experience with you and to also learn from your rich experiences in working with people, organizations and communities.
