January
2003
Just
to update you a bit for 2003. At the 2002 national
conference I met a number of enthusiastic Kangaroo
Islanders and we got very excited about the prospect
of a teacher workshop over there. I admit to having
been very slack in this area but it has been difficult
to raise funds. However, I have just recently
submitted a proposal to the Department of Environment
and Heritage to ask for supporting funds for a
weekend workshop. So fingers crossed and
there may be something happening very soon. Im
planning for late February. Because travel and
accommodation costs will make things quite expensive,
Im hoping that we wont have to charge
participants for
the workshop.
The
DEH Environmental Education section is in the
final stages of preparing a new document for teachers
the Coast and Marine Education Framework.
It is a huge resource guide, with thousands of
internet links and pages and pages of non-internet
resources such as books, music, kits and CD-roms.
It will be available through the
internet and as a CD-rom. They hope it will be
launched in Februaryand it will be presented in
a session at the workshop.
Seaweek
2003 plans are afoot and updates are available
through the MESA home page.
Dont
forget you can contact
me anytime on email if you have any questions,
or if you are interested in the February workshop.
Bye
for now
Alex
