My
plans for MESA activities for this year include
a visit to the Fisheries Academy (probably during
winter, Term 3?), something that a lot of people
commented on that they were disappointed didn't
happen at the conference. Also later in the year,
probably spring, a trip to see the Victor Harbor
aquarium, taken care of by a very enthusiastic
new marine educator.
The
major MESA feature of this year will be a teacher
workshop on Kangaroo Island, at the fairly new
Kingscote Marine Centre. This will probably be
early November over a weekend. I haven't had a
chance to finalise any details just yet - but
keep watching this space!
Of
course the other major marine education event
of the year is Seaweek, in mid-March. We are in
the process of finalising dates and the theme
right now. We would really like to get promotion
started in November, so that all you enthusiastic
teachers out there can incorporate it into next
year's plans. Supporting materials will come in
2003. Again keep watching the website for Seaweek
developments.
After
the AGM at the National Conference, we have a
committee with quite a high percentage of new
committee members, including a new President (who
was also a past President). We are all enthusiastic
and dedicated and hope to be able to bring you
a quality service over the next year.
Keep
checking these forums, too, for developments within
MESA and to comment on and contribute to the newsletter.
If
you have any questions as to how MESA can help
you, then please contact me anytime.
Cheers
Alex
