A Day at the Harbour. (March 09)

Students from R-10 going ti the Franklin Harbour to engage in a variety of activites including boating, oyster lease tours, volleyball, cooking oysters, Sea Art, Microscopic creature search, Mangroves activities, building mosquito traps.

Seagrasses and Marine Animals at Encounter Reef (March 9 to 12)

When snorkelling at Encounter Bay infront of the limestone reef. Students students will be given a picture of a seagrass, and/or a marine animal (eg, hermit crab, sponge, tommy rough, garfish) and asked to identify the same while snorkelling with their buddy.
This will be recorded at the end of each session.

Beach Monitoring (Thursday 11th March @ 11.30am)

Students are going to the Town Beach (right in the center of town!)and will meet up with Inez Stemp from the Department of Environment. We will be monioting the PH levels of the sea, comparing it to the water we drink at school and the water striaght from a hose. We will also be testing the turbitity and salinity of the sea water. We will complete a site analysis of Town Beach and at the end of activities, we will complete a clean up of the area.
